报告题目:Biogeographical responses of calanoid copepods to rapidly changing Arctic marine environments

报告摘要:Climate change is warming Arctic waters and reducing both the extent and thickness of sea ice. These changing environmental conditions are both directly and indirectly impacting the marine ecosystem. Many organisms are well-adapted to the unique high-latitude environment and extreme seasonality, and therefore are highly sensitive to environmental changes. Here, I will use an endemic mesozooplankton Calanus glacialis to explore how interacting biotic and abiotic drivers shape its biogeographical distribution and induce potential poleward range expansion with favorable growing conditions in recent years. The changing biogeography of this critical species will be discussed in a broad context of the Arctic system that is undergoing a rapid transition. The new mechanistic understanding gained from this study sheds light on the ecological responses of planktonic organisms to large-scale oceanographic processes and sea ice dynamics, and thus enable better future predictions of this fragile ecosystem.

报告人简介:冯志轩,2007年获得南京大学地理学学士学位,2014年获得迈阿密大学(University of Miami)应用海洋物理学博士学位。2014年至今在美国伍兹霍尔海洋研究所(Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)生物系做博士后,从事物理海洋学、生物海洋学以及海洋生态系统动力学等交叉学科领域的研究工作,其主要研究方向包括:海洋生态系统动力学、海洋生物与物理耦合过程和机制、海洋生态模型开发与应用、海洋生物地理、极地海洋学、河口海岸带环境与动力过程等。研究工作发表在Global Change Biology Journal of Geophysical Research: OceansWater Resources ResearchMarine Pollution BulletinJournal of Marine Systems等海洋学和生态学主流期刊上。
